Billy Gilmour explained how he is going to be in constant conversation with Chelsea during his loan spell at Norwich City this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Gilmour shared the ways his Stamford Bridge handlers would be keeping a close eye on his performances at Carrow Road.
The mercurial midfielder decided to join Norwich for the term, after realising his opportunities in South West London were going to be minimal again.
He started just three Premier League games last year, all in a row at the very end of the campaign.
A knee injury set his pre-season plans back somewhat, but even a fully fit Scotsman wouldn’t have been guaranteed regular action.
Which is something Norwich are hoping to offer him this time around, as they look to avoid instant relegation back to the Championship.
Gazing over Gilmour
Whilst Chelsea have their own matters to be assessing, Gilmour said his parent club will be offering advice and guidance throughout this period.
“They are in contact, they will watch games and send me highlights, look at what I can do better,” said the 20-year-old.
If things go according to plan, Gilmour should return to Cobham a more refined player, with extra top-flight experience under his belt.
“That is the aim,” he admitted.
“Have a really good season here with Norwich, go back to Chelsea and see what happens.”
Of course, there is every likelihood the Canaries will want to keep their young chick on permanently if he impresses.
Then Gilmour would have to make the most difficult decision of his career.
Remain at Norwich, where he is guaranteed constant football, or try and fight for his place at Chelsea?
