Chelsea still trust Nicolas Jackson and are backing the striker despite his difficult start to the season.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
Chelsea have been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney, but Romano has stated in his Substack column that the Blues are not working on signing a new forward at the moment and when it comes to Nicolas Jackson, “they back him.”

FootballTransfers recently claimed that the Blues have made Osimhen their No.1 target and have identified Toney as an alternative to the Nigerian.
Jackson only joined Chelsea in the last transfer window, arriving from Villarreal in a £32m deal, but the 22-year-old has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge. In the five Premier League games he has played so far, he managed to score just one goal.
Chelsea backing Nicolas Jackson
Is it a total surprise that Chelsea are putting their trust in Jackson? Right now, no. They just bought him so, from their perspective, it perhaps does not make sense to recruit someone who is going to get in his way.
It is early days as well. Maybe he just needs a bit more time to find his shooting boots.

If that does not happen, though, then Chelsea are obviously going to have to go out and buy a goalscorer.
Finding the back of the net is a huge problem for them at present, with their last outing, a 0-0 draw with Bournemouth, showing that.
Mauricio Pochettino now needs Jackson to start delivering if his side are to have any hope of securing a top-four finish this season.
