Thibaut Courtois has shared his delight for Romelu Lukaku on Instagram after the Chelsea striker completed his season-long loan move on Thursday to Roma.

It’s been confirmed that Romelu Lukaku will spend the 2023/24 campaign in Roma colours playing for Jose Mourinho’s side.

The 30-year-old striker wasn’t involved with Chelsea’s main group throughout all of pre-season and there’s been so much speculation about his next move.

Finally, he’s joined Serie A giants Roma on loan and is back playing in the Italian league.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois, who’s currently injured, is a teammate of Lukaku with the Belgium national team.

Courtois knows what it’s like to be disliked by a large chunk of the Chelsea fanbase, with his exit from Stamford Bridge in 2018 still not sitting well with some of them.

Likewise, Lukaku has come under severe scrutiny since returning to west London a couple of years ago. It’s great for the individual that his Roma deal is finalised and he can focus on his football for the rest of the season.

Courtois posted a three-word message on Lukaku’s Instagram to congratulate him:

“Let’s go bro” he wrote.

We could be back at square one when Lukaku returns next summer after his Roma loan, but hopefully he can convince the Italians to sign him on a permanent basis.

It’s a big relief that the Belgian attacker’s got his desired move and is no longer isolated around Cobham.

Lukaku fits the long line of failed Chelsea strikers in the 21st century, but the supporters are now putting faith in Nicolas Jackson as the new frontman to break the curse.
