Chelsea fans are extremely excited about the prospect of one of Chelsea’s most popular figures from the past and present linking up in 2025.

Cole Palmer, fresh off winning the England player of the year award for 2024, is likely to be a key member of the national team as they go about qualifying for the upcoming World Cup.

The Three Lions will be under the leadership of former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who left Bayern Munich at the end of last season.

Reports of Tuchel potentially returning to Chelsea over the summer never really took off, and instead the Blues are currently reaping the rewards of hiring Enzo Maresca for his first Premier League job.

Thomas Tuchel a big fan of Cole Palmer

The German could look to a number of his former players when he picks his first team as England manager, although something that can be certain is barring an injury Palmer will be involved.

Tuchel has told Sky Sports that he certainly enjoys watching the Chelsea man, describing him as ‘cool and composed’.

He said: “He’s definitely on form. I think everyone would agree on that, and hopefully he can still grow and keep the level up and then everything will be fine.

“Everyone enjoys watching him. He’s cool, he’s composed, he’s very clinical in finishing and assisting, so very impressive at the moment.”

Where Palmer could play for Tuchel’s England

For Chelsea this season, Palmer has occupied a central attacking role that has seen him be at the heartbeat of anything they have been doing.

For England, competition is rife in that role, with Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden both thinking that they should be starting there.

He also has plenty of experience playing off the right, although that is a position that Bukayo Saka seems to have priority in.

Chelsea teammate Noni Madueke may have something to say about that after a string of impressive performances of late in that position for England.
