Thomas Tuchel reacts after hearing Graham Potter has been sacked by Chelsea

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has had his say on his successor Graham Potter’s sacking at Chelsea after just seven months at the club.

When Potter was appointed to replace Tuchel at Chelsea last September, it was reportedly because the new ownership group believed the former would be the better figure to lead the club’s long-term project at the club.

In the end, it did not turn out as well as they expected, and after the team entered the bottom half of the Premier League table following Saturday’s defeat to Aston Villa, they decided it was time to look for another manager.

The high manager turnover rate is not exactly new at Stamford Bridge, but even under Roman Abramovich, the club never sacked two managers in a season.

According to Tuchel, the club has changed significantly since his arrival in 2021, which explains his indifference to the news.

“I got it very late yesterday as a message on my mobile phone,” the Bayern boss said in his press conference on Monday (via Spox).

“It’s a crunch time because it coincides with me taking up my new post.

“I loved working there and friendships were made for life.

“It took me a long time to distance myself from it, but the club has changed massively.

“That’s why I don’t have to give any advice, because the club has changed completely and that’s why it didn’t arouse really big emotions.”
