Three Chelsea players to watch in pre-season friendly against Club America, including ‘amazing’ debutant

Chelsea will be looking to finally get their first win on the board tonight when they take on Club America in their third friendly of the summer.

A draw against Wrexham followed by heavy defeat to Celtic has left some slightly concerned about what is to come under new manager Enzo Maresca next season.

Results are never the most important thing from pre-season games, however a desire for improvement will see a number of players out with a point to prove across the pond tonight.

The Chelsea Chronicle have singled out three players who supporters should keep an eye on in tonight’s game.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is yet to feature for his new side in pre-season after picking up an injury not long after joining the club.

However, Maresca has stated that he will be involved tonight, bringing a real boost to the midfield.

The fact that he has worked under the Italian before at Leicester City is a massive advantage for him to hold in the conversation over who will start the first game of the season against Manchester City.

Chelsea fans should be really excited over the prospects of the Englishman making his debut for the club tonight.

Marc Guiu

Marc Guiu has been one of the most impressive Chelsea players so far this summer, despite only just joining the club.

Maresca has even stated he is likely to remain with the club for next season, where he can provide competition for the striker role.

With Nicolas Jackson’s injury woes, he will likely begin the game up front again tonight as he continues to get accustomed to his new teammates.

While talk continues over Victor Osimhen, Guiu will be looking to get his first goal for the club under his belt.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling is yet to start a game for the club this summer, however that opportunity has arisen for him tonight.

Despite rumours of the club wanting him to leave, Sterling is completely committed to working under Maresca at Stamford Bridge for next season.

He certainly made an impact off the bench against Celtic, and will have an eye on the opening game of the season against a side he scored agaisnt twice last season.

While youngster Tyrique George will likely still be hoping he gets a chance to make an impact, Sterling should be given the opportunity to start.
