Timo Werner has insisted that Chelsea teammate Kai Havertz is more than just a goalscorer and has raved about his all-round game.

Havertz, 21, was arguably the marquee signing in the summer for the Blues amid all the new quality players to arrive and he’s viewed by many as the future of the Gemran national team.

The £140,000-a-week star (Spotrac) is an attacking midfielder that has kickstarted his Chelsea career with four goals in 10 appearances, as well as setting up three assists.

There is huge expectation on the German playmaker to be a hit at Stamford Bridge due to his rise at Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea supporters are already seeing why there is so much hype around him, albeit he’s still searching for real consistency.

Werner has given a glowing verdict on teammate Havertz by insisting there is so much to come from him moving forward and that he’s not just a goalscorer.

“I know Kai very well and I think he is one of the most talented players in the whole world. He is a young boy, only 21 and he can learn a lot but can already play like a very, very old and wise player,’ Werner said, as quoted by Football.London.

“For Kai it is very important to score, but I think what you can see in his game he is a lot more than scoring goals as a midfield player. He plays a lot of key players, makes a lot of movement for other players. He is very talented and feels good. He will get better and better every game.”

Blues manager Frank Lampard is still trying to find the best solution to fit all his stars into one XI and any formula surely has to include Havertz at the heart of it.

Chelsea arguably looked at their best during the weekend’s win over Burnley in the Premier League, where Havertz and Mason Mount both played in attacking central midfield positions.
