Chelsea’s new signing Timo Werner has joined the team training, a day after his arrival in London as his teammates prepare for Sunday’s FA Cup final against Arsenal.

The 24-year-old may not be able to play until at least the start of next season on September 12, but the preparation for the new campaign has already started for the latest member of the team.

He finished last season with an unbelievable record of 34 goals and 10 assists in all competitions for RB Leipzig and it’s not a surprise some Chelsea fans expect a lot from their new goal-machine.

He arrived in London yesterday and visited the Stamford Bridge right away as Chelsea secured a 2-0 win over Wolves on the last day of the Premier League season.

“My new home! Come on, Chelsea,” the Germany international wrote on his Instagram as he uploaded a picture of himself at Stamford Bridge.

At the stadium, Werner also had some conversation with Petr Cech whose ability to speak German was crucial in convincing Werner about the Chelsea move.

After the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard also sent a message for Werner.

“He was here today, so I hope he will have seen a team play with a lot of spirits,” the manager said in his post-match press-conference (as quoted by Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella).

“We saw off a difficult job today to be top four. I hope he has seen we have talents in the squad.”

And now Werner has joined the team training session at Cobham training centre.

His teammates will be busy preparing for the FA Cup final against London rivals Arsenal on Saturday, but similar to Hakim Ziyech, Werner will likely have a separate training sessions for the first few days, before joining the rest of the team.
