Reports have claimed that Todd Boehly personally recommended one transfer target during his first window in charge of the club.

According to The Athletic, the American was keen for the club to bring in Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City at the time, although his pitch was rejected by the manager at the time.

Chelsea are preparing to line up against Jesus this weekend as they look towards welcoming Arsenal to Stamford Bridge.

It will undoubtedly be the biggest test for the Blues so far this season, and a real challenge for the side that are currently on a run of back-to-back wins in the league.

The side looks completely different now to the one that existed before Boehly took over the club just over a year ago.

The owner has been keen to bankroll the side through their tough times recently, and this certainly did not stop this summer.

He helped take their spending during his time in charge to over £1billion, and broke their transfer record for the second consecutive window.

This was the signing of Moises Caicedo, who had previously been of interest to Arsenal across the capital.

Another player the Blues have stolen from under the noses of their London rivals is Mykhailo Mudryk. Chelsea are sweating on his fitness ahead of this weekend’s game.

One player the Gunners got too first though is Jesus, although it has now been claimed that this is not the fault of Boehly.

While the Brazilian has been described as ‘relentless’ across the capital, he could have been plying his trade at Stamford Bridge.

The owner reportedly personally recommended the player to Thomas Tuchel, who instead insisted the Blues went another way in the transfer market.

Just a few weeks later, the German had been dismissed, and it is hard to think that disagreements like this did his case any good.
