Todd Boehly’s two options at Chelsea amid ongoing power struggle

Todd Boehly could have a big decision to make at Chelsea soon, with things getting heated behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.

With Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali not on the same page these days, it has been reported that the former wants to buy out his fellow co-owner.

It would give Boehly much more of a say at Chelsea, though doing the above does not look like an option for the American right now.

In fact, it is thought that there are only really two options for the Chelsea co-owner at present.

Todd Boehly’s options at Chelsea limited

While Boehly may want to increase his shares at Chelsea, that looks very unlikely.

According to football.london, with Clearlake Capital unwilling to sell up, the 50-year-old has just two options.

One is obviously to keep his current shares, while the other is to sell them. For now, Eghbali and Clearlake are not planning on going anywhere.

The above means Boehly may never get to see his 30-year vision for the club. If things do not improve between him and Eghbali, then he could have to depart.

A report from The Telegraph has already claimed that their relationship is at a breaking point.

What next for Todd Boehly?

There is not much Boehly can do it seems. He can either accept the direction that Clearlake want to head in or sell his shares and move on.

As for matters on the pitch at Chelsea, hopefully all of the politics happening upstairs does not distract the team after the international break.

Enzo Maresca‘s side need a win after a very mixed start to the season. In the three Premier League games they have played so far, Chelsea have lost one, won one and drawn one.

They were also beaten 2-1 in the second leg of their Conference League play-off tie versus Servette.

The Chelsea job was never going to be easy for Maresca, but it looks to have got much harder.
