Chelsea shocked their fanbase in the last 24 hours when widespread reports in the media suggested they’re on the brink of yet another new signing.

The Blues have made numerous additions to the squad already in this transfer window, including the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo and Filip Jorgensen. A new face is expected to join the first-team squad imminently, though.

According to various reports in the media, Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Pedro Neto is on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Journalist Fabrice Hawkins initially broke the transfer news on Friday via X that Wolves attacker Neto is primed to join Chelsea.

It’s since been claimed by TalkSPORT that Neto has a medical booked with Chelsea on Saturday (today) before completing a transfer worth £51.4m plus bonuses.

Tony Cascarino is a fan of Pedro Neto

TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has reacted positively to the latest Chelsea transfer saga. However, his only concern is the injury record that Neto brings with him.

“The only downside to Pedro Neto is injury, is that he gets hamstring injuries probably way too often, but a fantastic player,” Cascarino told talkSPORT (7:40am, 10 August).

“You can play him in many different positions in the forward line – right, left, maybe even down the middle at times. He is capable, and Neto will scare the life out of defenders.”

Pedro Neto’s Wolves record

It’s definitely a worry that Neto has spent a large chunk of time on the sidelines through injury over the years. Let’s hope that it’s not something that continues with the 24-year-old throughout his whole career.

Here below is a look at how Neto’s done during five seasons as a Wolves player:

Neto hasn’t played over 30 games in each of the previous five campaigns, so this signing definitely feels like it’s got some risk with it.

However, if the Portugal international stays fit and healthy, the potential reward is massive with an attacker possessing his individual quality.
