Tony Cascarino urges £54m Chelsea player to ‘settle’ after his start to the season

Tony Cascarino believes that Chelsea’s first-team star hasn’t quite found his best form yet this season, but he’s still backing him as a talented footballer that can come good.

In general, it’s been a really positive start for the Blues this campaign. There’s several individuals in the Chelsea squad that have found form and are excelling in Enzo Maresca’s system.

The likes of Nicolas Jackson, Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez are thriving right now. In fact, Blues goalkeeper Sanchez said he’s feeling better than ever during an interview with Chelsea’s official website this week.

There’s definitely a positive feeling building under this head coach, so we’re expecting more and more stars to thrive in this environment.

Tony Cascarino comments on slow start from Pedro Neto

TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino thinks that Chelsea’s Pedro Neto has been a bit quiet so far this season following his arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Blues paid a significant £54m transfer fee (BBC) to sign talented attacker Neto in the summer, but he’s still finding his feet in his new home.

“I think Neto needs to settle and be the player he was at Wolves. He came in the summer and he hasn’t quite got going. He is a really good footballer, really good footballer,’ Cascarino told talkSPORT (7:10am, 28 September).

Pedro Neto is a star

Neto, 24, will surely be a bit underwhelmed with one goal and one assist from his opening seven Chelsea appearances. It’s fair to say that the left-footed winger is still searching to hit top form.

However, the Portugal international injects so much quality into the forward line.

He’s got the versatility to play numerous positions across the frontline, but it’s helpful that Maresca has publicly said he mainly views him as a right-winger and someone in direct competition with Noni Madueke.

As it stands, Madueke’s got possession of the starting shirt in Chelsea’s best XI. We expect Neto to catch form soon and put serious pressure on him, though.
