Hakim Ziyech was caught cheekily taking a jab at Edouard Mendy during a Chelsea training activity earlier this week.

A video on Twitter surfaced of Ziyech poking Mendy’s belly and jokingly saying ‘Too much kebab’, implying the goalkeeper enjoyed himself during his holidays.

Of course, this is simply an innocent back and forth between teammates who probably haven’t seen each other for nearly a month.

But Mendy couldn’t really be blamed for indulging whilst taking time away from the ferocious footballing schedule.

His arrival last summer from Rennes certainly changed Chelsea’s defensive fortunes around.

The Senegalese shot-stopper kept 25 clean sheets in 45 appearances.

He was beaten just three times during the triumphant Champions League run.

Ziyech’s contribution was slightly less impressive but was not without its fleeting moments of brilliance.

Twice he scored against Manchester City, in the Premier League and FA Cup, alongside a crucial European goal at home to Atletico Madrid.

With the pair now back at Cobham, Thomas Tuchel can start refiguring his squad for next season.

Both senior stars are expected to play a role of some kind, with the latter set to feature far more prominently.

Tuchel has no shortage of creative forces within his group, a number increased by the numerous returning loanees.

It was difficult for Ziyech to stake a regular starting role claim during his maiden campaign; that task could become even trickier.
