Journalist Florian Plettenburg has claimed that former Chelsea assistant manager Zsolt Low is in talks to become the new head coach of Stuttgart.

The Hungarian has been a long-time assistant for Thomas Tuchel, with him following the German to Stamford Bridge two seasons ago.

The pair enjoyed a large amount of success together in their brief spell in West London. In just their first season at the club, they helped lead Chelsea to Champions League glory, beating Manchester City in the final.

They have worked together at a number of clubs now. PSG and Borussia Dortmund are another two who have prospered from their time together.

Now though, it looks as if Low is ready to take his first step into managing a club without his good friend.

Plettenburg has claimed that talks have already taken place over the Stuttgart job, and Low is keen to become a head coach in his own right.

A number of those who have helped the manager at Stamford Bridge have gone on to enjoy prosperous careers in management.

Roberto di Matteo occupied the assistant role during Andre Villas-Boas’ reign, with him taking over in the middle of the season back in 2012.

Of course, he led the Blues to Champions League glory in a similar style to Tuchel nine years later.

Brendan Rodgers also cut his teeth working behind the scenes at Chelsea, most notably under Jose Mourinho in the mid-2000s.

He has gone on to enjoy a fruitful career, although it is currently in a bit of a low place due to the poor form of his club Leicester City.
