Christian Pulisic was awarded for his display against Crystal Palace for Chelsea last weekend with a place in Garth Crooks’ BBC team of the week.

Pulisic was on fire during the Blues’ 4-1 Premier League victory last Saturday.

The 22-year-old netted twice in what was a dominate display from start to finish for Thomas Tuchel’s men.

Goals versus Palace are becoming a premium for Pulisic. That’s now four in four when facing the Eagles.

It felt like a defining moment for the American international, who’s had a generally disappointing season up until recently.

He is finally finding his feet under Tuchel, having been massively overlooked during the opening months of his managerial stint with Chelsea.

Injuries have limited Pulisic’s contribution across the campaign, but he finally looks rid of his physical problems.

Crooks recognised these fitness issues when including the Blues forward in his team of the week.

“I am in no doubt that Pulisic is a top-class player and capable of scoring 10-15 goals a season,” said the former Tottenham Hotspur striker.

“However, in order to do that you need to be resilient and remain fit, and therein lies Pulisic’s problem – he cannot remain fit for any length of time.”

Muscle and hamstring issues have been the crux of Pulisic’s absences throughout his short Chelsea career.

In the periods away from the treatment table, he’s been on fire.

Post-lockdown last year, Pulisic scored four and assisted four in nine league matches.

He is currently on a run of three goals in three league starts, a stretch that could continue when Chelsea play Brighton & Hove Albion next Tuesday.

In between that is the Champions League clash with Porto tonight and a League Cup semi-final against Manchester City on Saturday.

Based on his current form, Pulisic may feel hard done to miss out on either fixture.
