Tosin Adarabioyo passed a Moises Caicedo record against Wrexham, by setting a new single-game high for a Chelsea player this season that not many would have imagined.

Chelsea found a way to book themselves a place in the next round of the FA Cup after overcoming Wrexham in extra time at the Racecourse Ground.

Liam Rosenior made another debatable decision with his starting XI against Wrexham, opting for a back three which just didn’t work. But as soon as he switched to a back four and brought on the likes of Marc Cucurella and Joao Pedro, things soon turned around for the Blues.

But one player who seemed to struggle and slowly grow into the game was Tosin Adarabioyo, who has been under the spotlight in recent games.

Tosin Adarabioyo breaks two Chelsea records vs Wrexham

In what was one of Adarabioyo’s worst games, he still managed to stand tall and break two Chelsea records, which was helped by extra time.

The first saw him record the most touches in a game for Chelsea this season. He managed a whopping 169 touches, which beats the previous season-high from Trevoh Chalobah of 138 against Hull City.

Secondly, he managed to make 15 ball recoveries, smashing Moises Caicedo’s previous record of 10 this season against Aston Villa back in December.

And Robert Sanchez even ran him close with 14 recoveries against Wrexham.

Tosin Adarabioyo’s stats in full vs Wrexham

Adarabioyo completed 142 of 151 passes, made 15 recoveries, seven clearances, three blocks, two interceptions, one tackle and won four duels.

However, it was how unsure he looked on the ball at times that was a worry.

It’ll be an intriguing few months for Adarabioyo with Chelsea supposedly open to selling him this summer if things don’t improve.
