Thomas Tuchel has stated that Timo Werner’s main skill is his speed and that Chelsea have failed to fully capitalise on this.
Tuchel told the 5th Stand that he was trying to get the best out of his misfiring striker by bringing him into games and working on his skills in training.
“He’s (Werner) totally into it and he gives everything. Every striker in the world is sensitive and nothing helps more than goals,” Tuchel said.
“As long as he has the impact and tries everything and works like he worked against Burnley, we will support him.
“We missed some chances to use him in counter-attacks. This is his absolute strength with his pure speed.

“So we have to improve at bringing him into situations where he can be decisive for us, and at the same time he has to be confident to play, but its not something you can demand.
Werner has failed to score in his last 13 Premier League outings and has only found the back of the net against Morecambe during that period.
He even missed a penalty in the victory over Luton Town as his woes continue to grow.
The 24-year-old German has a perfect opportunity to banish all his problems when Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening.

I think Tuchel is being extremely kind to Werner here. Chelsea have provided him with plenty of moments to end his drought but he’s simply squandered the chances.
Chelsea are not a particularly a counter-attacking team under Tuchel so it’s been difficult to harness Werner’s pace in behind defences. That probably won’t change against Spurs either.
