Thomas Tuchel insisted Timo Werner has no reason to be frustrated with his Chelsea career as he responded to rumours about the striker’s potential summer exit.

In recent weeks, there have been speculations about the 25-year-old’s potentially leaving Stamford Bridge.

Football Insider, for example, claimed that Werner could leave this summer after “failing to set the Premier League” alight.

It certainly raised a few eyebrows, given that Werner is clearly in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

Tuchel himself has now played down the rumours as he insisted there is no reason for Werner to be unhappy about the start of his Chelsea career.

“Stop reading [about these rumours]. Read a book, it’s better [laugh],” Tuchel said in his press conference on Tuesday.

“For Timo, I think he has no reason now to be frustrated.

“Because he had an amazing match against Liverpool — maybe his best [performance] since I arrived.”

Tuchel admitted that the lack of goals can affect Werner’s self-confidence but insists there is no point dwelling on it.

“What does it help?” he added.

“The clear advice from us is not to focus on the results, focus on the process and getting your decision-making and technique right.

“There is simply no time to reflect on what will happen this summer or next year.

“And at the moment, I don’t see why he should be frustrated.

“As I said before, nobody here is blaming the strikers. It is a team effort to attack and to defend.”

There are a few Chelsea players who might want to find a new challenge elsewhere, but Werner is certainly not one of them.

The former RB Leipzig ace featured in 10 of 12 games since Tuchel took over the reigns — what else could he ask for?

He has missed goalscoring opportunities, a lot actually, 16 big chances missed and second-most in the league according to Opta (via Premier League’s official website).

But the numbers also suggest that he has been getting a lot of chances and the goals will eventually come once he rediscovers his Leipzig form.
