Chelesa have confirmed their 23-man travelling squad for the Champions League round-of-16 first-leg match against Borussia Dortmund.
After their final preparation at Cobham training ground on Tuesday’s morning, the Blues have now travelled and landed safely in Dortmund ahead of the big match at Signal Iduna Park.
As expected, Raheem Sterling, as well as the other eight players who were expected to be absent in the game, was left behind to recover from a knee injury.
There are no surprises in Graham Potter’s squad decisions for the game, with Lewis Hall and Lucas Bergstrom being the only academy players in the travelling party.
The three January signings; Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Enzo Fernandez, all boarded the plane as expected.
Four players could make their return following fitness-related absences; Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana, Denis Zakaria, and Mateo Kovacic.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek did well in midfield alongside Fernandez against West Ham last weekend, but many expect to see a midfield partnership between the Argentina international and Kovacic, too.
Due to the absences of the three other number nine options, Kai Havertz is almost certain to lead the line for the Blues on Wednesday.
