Chelsea duo Kai Havertz and N’Golo Kante have made the call up to the supporters Premier League Team of the Season.
The BBC compiled the XI, based on the ratings given out by fans to individual players throughout the course of the campaign.
For each fixture, a score out of ten can be awarded.
To make the BBC’s top-performing 11, the individual must have played at least nine top-flight matches.
Chelsea at the double
Kante earned a place in midfield, either for his showing against Tottenham Hotspur or Leicester City.
In both games, the France international scored and was the catalyst in a 3-0 victory for the Blues.
Havertz made up one-third of the attacking trident, with the third-highest rating of the season.
His high-scoring assessment could’ve occurred in several different outings.
He was amongst Chelsea’s best players during the 2-1 win over Watford last month, plus he was crucial in the 1-1 draw with Burnley.
The 22-year-old scored that afternoon at Stamford Bridge and was praised by the manager after the final whistle.
“We’re happy that Kai scored — it’s a brilliant goal,” said Tuchel.
Havertz taking on Tuchel’s challenge
Majority of the young German’s positive output arrived after the manager demanded more from his fellow countryman.
“He is so talented and so dangerous, he has so much potential that he needs to show it,” declared the Chelsea coach, shortly before his side beat Norwich City 7-0.
Mason Mount was the key component to the crushing of the Canaries, netting his first senior hattrick for his boyhood club.
Therefore, it is slightly surprising to see his name omitted from the list.
Best of the rest in blue
If you were to ask followers of the Blues who they felt were the team’s top performers this year, Havertz and Kante probably wouldn’t be their primary choices.
Edouard Mendy ensured Chelsea defeated Brentford 1-0 in the middle of October, thanks to a string of superb saves.
Mateo Kovacic was quite magical against Liverpool in the last league fixture, with an outstanding goal to show for it.
Reece James’ double away to Newcastle United surely deserves a mention as well.
However, the fans have spoken; Havertz and Kante make the cut.
Conor Gallagher joins his fellow Cobham comrades, thanks to numerous dazzling displays whilst on loan with Crystal Palace.
Former Blue trio Declan Rice, Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Salah also got picked.
