Chelsea kickstarted their Premier League season with a victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon – and some Blues fans on Twitter were really impressed with the display from Marcos Alonso.
Thomas Tuchel’s side beat London rivals Palace 3-0 at Stamford Bridge today to make it a dream beginning to the league campaign.
It was a fairly routine result in the end, with Chelsea having 63 per cent possession of the ball.
Alonso, 30, was named in the starting XI for the season opener and he justified the manager’s selection. The Spanish left wing-back scored a trademark free-kick in the first half with a powerful left-footed effort high into the net.
Christian Pulisic doubled the advantage before half time. Also, there was a special moment in the second period when Trevoh Chalobah netted a third on his Premier League debut.

Chelsea fans wowed by Marcos Alonso
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media say that once again Alonso proved some doubters wrong with his display.
The experienced full-back started in the team’s UEFA Super Cup final victory in midweek and followed that up with his eye-catching league performance.
For now, teammate Ben Chilwell is sat patiently waiting for his opportunity.
Tuchel did show though throughout last season he did like to rotate in that area of the pitch. His options are extremely strong, especially when you consider Emerson Palmieri as well.
Here are some Blues fans raving about Alonso:
