Jason Cundy believes that Chelsea and England star Mason Mount can go “unnoticed” on the pitch, suggesting that people don’t realise how good he really is.
Mount, who earns £88,000-a-week, is a star at club level for the Blues.
The Chelsea academy graduate is a key first teamer at Stamford Bridge that has already fulfilled a dream of winning the Champions League with his boyhood club.
However, the 22-year-old surely has so much more to achieve in his career.
The attacking midfielder is also a regular for his country England and featured in three games during this international break.
He played 90 minutes in England’s 1-1 away draw on Wednesday night against Poland as the Three Lions took another small step towards World Cup qualification.
Cundy claimed in his post-match analysis of the England game that the Chelsea ace can fly under the radar.
“I think unless you watch Mason a lot of his work can go unnoticed. It’s because he doesn’t fall down picking up loads of free kicks. He doesn’t take on three or four players and cut back. He doesn’t do a thousand stepovers,” Cundy told talkSPORT (10:15pm, 8 September).
“You look at what he does do… He’s not the finished article. He’s miles from the finished article. But, I think at times you can look at a player and say what he doesn’t do, as appose to appreciating what he does do.”

Mason Mount will get respect of casuals when he scores more
Of course, anyone who watches Mount closely knows exactly why he’s adored by Chelsea fans.
He’s a fan favourite after assisting in a Champions League final, plus you don’t start under both managers Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate by fluke.
If he can improve one area of his game, though, it’s end product.
There is the potential for the 22-year-old to reach frightening levels when he matures because there is so much to love about his all-round game.
He can now elevate himself to the next level with more goal contributions. Last season he ended up with nine goals and nine assists in all competitions.
