Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea have asked Villarreal to keep them updated on developments regarding the future of Nicolas Jackson.

He claimed on YouTube that the 21-year-old is one of many names on the club’s list of potential striker signings this summer.

News emerged over the last couple of days that the Blues had entered discussions over the signing of Jackson.

It was claimed that a deal would cost around £30m, with the player enjoying a strong finish to the campaign in La Liga.

He was named the player of the month for the final one of the campaign, as he made the most of a run of starts in the final games of the season.

The Blues are desperate to bring in a recognised goalscorer this summer as a result of what was a dire campaign in front of goal last year.

Chelsea keeping tabs on Jackson

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were unable to find the net on a regular basis, and this ultimately cost the Blues as they slumped to a 12th place finish.

Romano has claimed that one of the names on their list is Jackson, and they have now informed Villarreal that they want to be kept in the loop regarding his future.

He said: “Nicolas Jackson, the Villarreal striker, is a very concrete name on Chelsea’s list of striking targets. They want to stay informed on the conditions of a potential deal.”

While Jackson’s talents are obvious, the deal would leave the likes of Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana questioning what their future’s look like at the club.

Some supporters may also want the club to target a much more developed star, with many pointing to the potential deal that can be struck for Victor Osimhen.
