Ian Wright enjoyed watching Raheem Sterling take on Kyle Walker in Chelsea’s 4-4 draw with Manchester City over the weekend.
Raheem Sterling gave Kyle Walker a torrid time on the afternoon and Ian Wright, speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, admits he liked the nastiness the winger showed as he constantly attacked his former team-mate down the flank.
It was a great performance by Sterling, who managed to get his name on the scoresheet.
According to WhoScored, the 28-year-old also completed four dribbles. Phil Foden was the only player on the pitch to have recorded more (five).
Raheem Sterling vs Kyle Walker
Wright loved the ruthlessness Sterling showed to Walker and says the way the England international is taking on players again is exciting.
Talking about Sterling’s battle with Walker on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, the Arsenal legend said: “It almost had some nastiness in him. I think he gave Kyle Walker a real chasing. You don’t really see that too often. But I did like it. He looked like he had a point to prove.
“I saw a graph the other day, and it showed his stats and his take-ons for Liverpool, how high they were. He went to City and they dropped off because there is so much going on. Now at Chelsea it’s starting to go up again because he’s now able to get on the ball and take people on again, whereas when it was City he had to make sure he linked play and was in a certain space.
“You look at him now and he is doing his stuff. He is taking people on, he’s creating, he’s scoring. It’s very, very exciting. I’m pleased for him.”

Raheem Sterling exciting to watch
Sterling really has put on a show at times this season after a difficult debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues signed him from City for £50m last summer, as reported by BBC Sport, but he struggled to make much of an impact. In 28 Premier League appearances, he scored just six goals.
After his strike against his former club, Sterling is now just two away from equalling that tally with 26 games to go, while his general play has been a joy to watch.
The way he is taking on defenders and getting past them is enough to get you off your feet.
Mauricio Pochettino will now be desperate for Sterling, who amazed Alan Shearer with his display versus City on Sunday, to maintain this form. If he does, then the Argentine will have one of the most dangerous forwards in the Premier League to call upon. When Sterling is at it, that is exactly what he is.
