‘Very good’: Low says 22-year-old Chelsea player has seriously impressed him in training out in Abu Dhabi

Zsolt Low has shared that Kai Havertz has really impressed him in training during Chelsea’s trip out in Abu Dhabi.

Blues first-team assistant Low, who’s had more responsibility during the absence of manager Thomas Tuchel, says Havertz has stood out on the training pitches.

The 22-year-old’s not had a lot of football during the last month, but he played well during yesterday’s game in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final.

He was heavily involved in the build-up for Romelu Lukaku’s match-winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Al Hilal.

“Kai had a very good week in training and that’s why we decided to let him play, to see his quality in the game. He did his job very well, he had some dangerous attacks, and he worked hard to close down space in defence. He had a good game,” Low said.

Journalist Matt Law suggested last month that Lukaku was hoping to play more games in attack with Havertz. It’s a combination that showed real potential during Wednesday’s match, with Havertz and Hakim Ziyech playing in creative roles behind Lukaku.

Chelsea fans are still waiting to see the best of £71million attacker Havertz. There’s no doubting he’s a really talented left-footer that just needs to be more clinical and consistent with his attacking output.

Chelsea close to history

Yes, the Blues had to ride their luck at times during yesterday’s win. It was a performance that suggests the team are still trying to find their best form, too.

However, Chelsea will win the Club World Cup prize for the first time in their history if they beat Palmeiras on Saturday.

The Blues have gone about it in their own unique way during the past couple of decades, with many often questioning the tough approach to their managers.

There can be no doubting the success of business model, though.

Current Blues manager Tuchel is adored by the fanbase, but he knows there is a constant pressure to win trophies at Stamford Bridge.
