Things have gone extremely well for Romelu Lukaku ever since he left Chelsea on loan over the summer.

His move to Roma has seen him return to regular goalscoring again. He now has nine goals in all competitions this season.

Last night again saw him add a big goal to his collection, as Jose Mourinho’s side completed a dramatic late turnaround in Serie A against Lecce.

Despite the scenes, it had followed a piece of history for Lukaku that he will perhaps not look back on too fondly.

Up until last night, the Belgium international had not missed from the penalty spot in Italy, leaving him with a flawless record.

This changed early in the first half yesterday though, as he saw his spot kick saved by the legs of the goalkeeper in the opening five minutes.

It was almost a nightmare outing for the striker, however just as it has been for the majority of the season it continued to go his way for now.

This is despite Roma not exactly enjoying the perfect campaign so far. They currently sit in 7th in the league.

Back at Stamford Bridge now though, the striker situation does not seem to have been solved up to now.

Nicolas Jackson, who came in over the summer, has not set the world alight since joining, only contributing a handful of goals.

There is certainly a chance that he is dropped back to the bench tonight for the big London derby against high-flying Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino will have seen the success he got from playing Cole Palmer in a false nine role against Arsenal, and may look to implement that again when they face Spurs tonight.
