Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger claimed last night that his side must improve their level of performance after the win against Luton Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Thomas Tuchel’s side came from behind on two occasions to overcome Championship club Luton Town 3-2 at Kenilworth Road.
Blues goalscorers Saul Niguez, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku ended up bailing the Premier League side out of a big hole.
It was important to get a result last night following defeat to Liverpool in the weekend’s Carabao Cup final. Also, supporters needed reason to cheer after the Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich confirmed yesterday his plans to sell the club.
Rudiger, who ended up wearing the captain’s armband during the second half, suggested in his post-match reaction he’s not happy with the sloppy display against Luton. The £29million defender warns the team will need to get better for their next set of fixtures.
Four Chelsea games left in March
There is an international break scheduled for the end of this month, which leaves Chelsea with four matches left to play in March during the next couple of weeks.
For certain, Tuchel’s men need to be targeting four wins out of four.
There are Premier League matches against Burnley (away), Norwich City (away) and Newcastle United (home) just around the corner. Also, the away leg of the Champions League last-16 tie with Lille, which they lead already 2-0 on aggregate.
It’s been easy to forget the league season given all the various cup competitions in the last months, but Chelsea still need points on the board to consolidate third in the table.
In addition, there is a great chance to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
