Raheem Sterling insists Chelsea teammate Nicolas Jackson proves every day in training just what he’s capable of.
Nicolas Jackson, who’s still only 22, has been under the microscope during his first few months as a Chelsea player.
The youngster’s been the main striker at Stamford Bridge so far this campaign, with a lot of comments made about his erratic finishing about the penalty box.
Hopefully, his Premier League hat-trick on Monday night against Tottenham can go a long way to settling any nerves. Incidentally, the Senegal international now has six Chelsea goals across all competitions so far this season.

Chelsea brotherhood
Blues winger Raheem Sterling, 28, has offered some encouraging comments about his club teammate.
He’s suggested that Jackson does show how good he can really be in training.
When asked about the 22-year-old youngster, Sterling told Stadium Astro: “To score goals it’s a collective, I don’t think it’s on individuals. Of course, individuals have to take their opportunities but I feel like us as a team we have to try and be in positions to make opportunities easier. Me myself, to try and bring the ball into position to try and create and we see him in training, we know what he’s capable of. Personally I think he just needs to focus on giving everything like he has been, and the goals will flow.”
Nicolas Jackson is unpredictable
There’s flashes of brilliance when you watch Jackson on a football pitch, which is why the supporters are mostly behind him and desperate for him to succeed.
However, the £32million forward (The Guardian) still has a lot of developing to do with his all-round game.
If he wants to nail down the starting position as Chelsea’s No 9, we feel he’s got to become more ruthless in front of goal.
Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast (7 November), Gary Neville admitted that he wouldn’t have liked defending against Jackson.
Our prediction is that the imminent return of Christopher Nkunku from injury will help ease the burden on the rest of Chelsea’s forwards, so expect to see individuals play a lot more freely.
Jackson should go into this Sunday’s game at home to Manchester City with some confidence after his hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Spurs.
