Gary Neville has applauded Jamal Musiala’s bold decision to leave Chelsea and join Bayern Munich.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS (27/11/22 at 9.10pm), Neville used the teenager as an example of young English talents who have moved abroad and flourished.
Musiala was raised through the ranks at Chelsea, but never got a glimpse at the first-team.
Instead, he decided to answer Bayern’s call and move to Germany at the age of 16.

His choice to wave goodbye to Cobham was perhaps made easier by the fact he has German heritage through his parents.
It didn’t take the attacker long to establish himself in his homeland.
He made his senior debut for Bayern in June 2020, and has since played 100 games for the Bundesliga champions.
“I admire these lads that leave. (Jadon) Sancho leaving (Manchester City), Musiala leaving (Chelsea). I think the fact that they are willing to go to Germany. To Dortmund and to Bayern Munich and experience that different level,” remarked Neville on Musiala’s career changing decision.
“Well done to them.”
Jamal Musiala makes Chelsea regret
Musiala may have seen his path blocked to becoming a Chelsea regular by the constant wave of new signings made by the club.
“Chelsea have (Christian) Pulisic, (Kai) Havertz, they had (Timo) Werner, there are loads of them, isn’t there? (Mason) Mount. (Hakim) Ziyech. (Conor) Gallagher. They have five or six players in the position of Musiala’s, they are probably thinking ‘we are okay’. A year or two ago,” continued Neville.

“Managers at Chelsea couldn’t wait two or three years to bring something through, anyway.”
Todd Boehly must now be wishing the Bayern forward was more patient.
The American owner of Stamford Bridge has been forced to see one of Chelsea’s own flourish in different colours.
Boehly might also be cursing his luck at what could’ve been a huge future sale had Musiala stuck around.

There is no indication Bayern are willing to let their young prodigy go any time soon.
But when that moment arises, be assured that it will be for big bucks.
