Tony Cascarino has insisted he’s “optimistic” about the future of Chelsea under new ownership.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has made it public knowledge that he’s looking to sell the club, which has lead to a wave of speculation reading a takeover at Stamford Bridge.
Egyptian businessman Muhsin Bayrak has made an offer for the Blues. Elsewhere, Hansjorg Wyss is reportedly joining forces with Todd Boehly and one other party to try buy the London club from Abramovich.
The Chelsea owner can reportedly expect bids for the club in the region of £2billion, albeit he values it at double that sum.
Pundit Cascarino, who previously played for the Blues, suggests that there is no reason for any panic when it comes to predicting the club’s future under new stewardship.
“I’m not pessimistic, I’m optimistic about the club. I think it’s been a well-oiled machine for a long time now since Roman came in,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.
“This club has grown extraordinarily. The fanbase is worldwide now. I’m optimistic. Chelsea have never been a selling club under Roman… generally they’ve been a buying club and don’t sell.
“I think it’s all in place for somebody to takeover and add to. This is not like buying a team in the bottom end of the table, this is buying a team that’s been an elite team for two decades.”
Chelsea action continues
It’s easy to overlook the fact the Blues are entering a busy run of games in the next couple of weeks before the international break this month.
Of course, the attention is fixed on which investors win the race to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.
However, the squad and staff of players need to try focus on their own job.
It’s a kind fixture list on paper with Premier League games against Burnley, Norwich City and Newcastle United. You take any game for granted in this division at your peril, though.
