Mateo Kovacic captained Chelsea this week during an epic night in the Champions League.
Chelsea came from behind in the tie to beat Borussia Dortmund and qualify for the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
It’s been a challenging start to life as Blues head coach for Graham Potter, but his entire squad must be lifted by success in Europe.
Incidentally, the quarter-final draw for the Champions League takes place on Friday 17 March.

Kovacic, who wore the captain’s armband on Tuesday night, was part of a spirited Chelsea team that beat Dortmund at Stamford Bridge.
The £40million midfielder celebrated the result with a post on Instagram, which received an interesting response from the comment section.
Blues teammate Fofana compared Kovacic to footballing great Zinedine Zidane, who was popularly known as ‘Zizou’ in his playing career.
We are guessing it’s a tongue-in-cheek comment, but it’s the type of nickname any player should love.

There’s very few footballers in the history of the sport that can properly compare with Zidane. We kind of see what Fofana means with his comparison, though.
Kovacic, 28, put in an eye-catching performance in the Blues midfield this week.
The Croatia international is technically very sound and his ability to dribble past opponents is a huge part of his game. In fact, he’s one of the world’s best current midfielders at breaking the lines.
It’s obvious that the central midfielder is starting to develop an understanding alongside Enzo Fernandez, which is certainly a very fun partnership to watch.
