‘What are you doing?’… TalkSPORT pundit slams 22-year-old Chelsea player for not even tracking back

Andy Jacobs was left far from impressed with one Chelsea player’s performance on Tuesday night.

Chelsea lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough at the Riverside in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie.

It was a poor team performance and Andy Jacobs has now criticised Moises Caicedo‘s display and role in the home side’s goal on talkSPORT.

Fortunately for Caicedo and Co, they will have a chance to correct things when Michael Carrick’s men travel to Stamford Bridge for the second leg.

Chelsea signed the 22-year-old from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer for a club-record fee, but ESPN pundit Craig Burley thinks he should have joined Liverpool or Arsenal instead.

Jacobs was not happy with what he saw from Caicedo at the Riverside, claiming that he is nothing like former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

On the Ecuadorian, he said: “Caicedo, £115m for a player that doesn’t bother to track back, who thinks somehow that the laws of physics that bloke could not have crossed the ball to where he was standing with his arms behind his back. It’s just what are you doing? You’re certainly no Kante, that’s for sure.”

There is not a more expensive midfield in world football than Chelsea’s, yet Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez could not help prevent the team from losing against a Championship side.

It is not good enough really, but you also have to look at Mauricio Pochettino. How is he not getting more from a midfield that cost over £200m?

With that duo and the other quality players Chelsea have, they should not be 10th in the table and at risk of getting eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Championship opposition. Yet that is where we currently are.
