A lot of Chelsea supporters are angered by Conor Gallagher’s imminent departure this summer, but there’s actually a lot of intrigue about how he’ll perform out in Spain.
It’s widely speculated across the whole media that Conor Gallagher is about to leave Chelsea and sign for La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
He’s a homegrown talent from the Blues academy that developed into a senior star at Stamford Bridge, but the next part of his career will be overseas.
The Telegraph recently claimed that Atletico boss Diego Simeone told Gallagher he’s perfect for him. Now, fans of both clubs are just waiting for an official announcement that the summer transfer is complete.

Conor Gallagher has trained with Atletico Madrid and been told to slow down
According to Mundo Deportivo, Gallagher has had his first training session with Atletico on Friday morning even before the official announcement of his transfer.
It is explained that the England international will be announced as a new signing today on a five-year deal.
The report says that the 24-year-old midfielder has already trained alongside some teammates that didn’t travel to Hong Kong for pre-season.
Apparently, Gallagher’s already showing a good physical level to the Atletico coaches, who even had to ask him to slow down.
It’s the sort of story that won’t surprise any Chelsea fan because his work rate, determination, and professionalism really encapsulate him as a player.
Do Chelsea still have the legs in midfield?
There’s no doubt that Chelsea will miss the athleticism and pressing of Gallagher next season. Even if he’s not the most eye-catching footballer on the ball, what he did off of it was so effective at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues do have Moises Caicedo as an extremely mobile midfielder that can get up and down the pitch. The same goes for new Blues signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, too.
It feels like Dewsbury-Hall is the most like-for-like replacement for Gallagher. Interestingly, it’s been reported by The Athletic that Chelsea view Dewsbury-Hall as more attacking than Gallagher in midfield.
