What Chelsea are now hoping for with striker Marc Guiu as injury update emerges

Chelsea youngster Marc Guiu must be super frustrated watching on from the sidelines right now with his injury problem.

Unfortunately, Marc Guiu, 19, hasn’t played for the Blues since picking up a leg injury on 3 February against West Ham.

The teenage striker arrived at Chelsea from Barcelona last summer in a £5m deal (BBC). Based on his limited appearances so far during his debut campaign in English football, it looks like a really shrewd bit of business for an exciting forward with lots of potential.

If Guiu had been fit and available in the last couple of months, we suspect he would’ve played a lot of football.

Nicolas Jackson is the club’s first-choice striker this season, and he missed a couple of months in 2025 through injury. Since returning in recent weeks, he’s looked off the pace and struggled leading the line.

Chelsea’s priority is to sign a striker when the summer transfer window opens, so we’re intrigued to see how that impacts both Jackson and Guiu next season.

Marc Guiu could return to Chelsea for May schedule

According to The Athletic, Chelsea hope that Guiu will be available for a busy May schedule that is just around the corner, which is followed by the Club World Cup tournament this summer.

It is explained that the Blues are being ‘very cautious’ with the 19-year-old striker as he recovers from a leg abductor injury.

The report claims that Chelsea are taking the Spaniard’s recovery on a week-to-week basis because they don’t want to risk the youngster having the same recurrence in his career.

If Chelsea progress through the Conference League semis, they’ll play in the final on 28 May. Afterwards, it’s a short turnaround before the Club World Cup begins in mid-June.

We’d love to see Guiu back around the senior group for the final stretch of the season because he definitely injects some extra pace and intensity in attack.

Earlier in April, Enzo Maresca’s update on Guiu was that the Blues frontman could be back before the season ends. Fans will have wait and see if he can be involved in the intense May schedule, though.

Why Marc Guiu joined Chelsea

Even though Guiu’s season has been interrupted by injury, he does look like he could be one of the youngsters signed by the club with a very promising future.

The Spanish striker ticks a lot of boxes with his profile as a centre-forward.

Guiu explained his decision to join Chelsea was largely down to the club’s project. He said in July 2024: “My main reason for wanting to sign for Chelsea was the football and sporting project the club is offering me here, and the trust everyone who works at the club is putting in me.”

The club’s project of recruiting so many young rising stars isn’t popular with every supporter, but it’s not preventing players from joining them at a rapid rate.
