Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo left a positive impression on Ecuador fans after he helped his country to a 1-0 win over Chile last night.

However, Chelsea fans will surely have been hoping he could have been given a rest as they approach their own tough run of fixtures going into the festive period.

Nevertheless, it was the final break until March and players can have regular focus on representing their club until then.

With Kendry Paez also bringing excitement as he continues his exciting period as a starter for his country, Ecuador picked up another three points on their road to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Caicedo stayed after the game

Many who attended the stadium though may have actually seen their evening’s peak after the game, when the majority of the players had left the pitch.

However, El Futbolero claimed that Caicedo remained on the pitch for quite a lot longer, taking pictures and signing autographs with supporters.

It now remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old is fit enough to return to action for his club as soon as Saturday, when the Blues travel to face Newcastle.

Midfield partner Enzo Fernandez is also likely to be a fitness risk, however Chelsea fans will have been delighted to see him get through the typically spicy Argentina vs Brazil match unscathed.

Whether both will be able to start together after just a couple of training sessions back with the club remains to be seen.
