Manchester United have made the decision to sack Erik ten Hag as manager just six days before they host Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The Blues will no doubt have been relishing the task at taking on the side currently sat 14th in the Premier League table, although having a new manager at the helm, even if temporary, changes the picture completely.

Chelsea picked up their first win against a Ten Hag-led United late last season, when Cole Palmer’s sensational hat-trick capped off a memorable game at Stamford Bridge.

One of Chelsea’s summer signings was very publicly not a big fan of the Dutchman during their time together in Manchester, with Jadon Sancho seemingly delighted to get away from the situation unfolding at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag publicly criticised Chelsea’s Jadon Sancho

Since joining the Blues, Sancho has impressed, and his loan with an obligation to join permanently is set to be confirmed at the end of the season.

Ten Hag made his criticism public after leaving Sancho out of a matchday squad completely, saying he had not been performing at the level required.

He said to BBC Sport: “Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him.

“You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”

Can Jadon Sancho play for Chelsea vs Manchester United on Sunday?

This saw Sancho return to Borussia Dortmund on loan, where he showed enough to Chelsea for them to believe they could get the best out of him in West London.

The England international will not be available for selection at the weekend due to it still being his parent club, however he will be delighted that his time at United has come to an end.

He will be hoping that he can soon push himself back into the starting side for Premier League games, after dropping to the bench in favour of Pedro Neto yesterday against Newcastle.
