Despite spending last season on loan at Bayern Munich, there is now a serious chance that Nicolas Jackson is back in the Chelsea squad for next season.
It was clear that Enzo Maresca had lost faith in the Senegal international, allowing him to leave the club to facilitate the signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
While the Brazilian has greatly impressed, there have been less positivity around Delap, who is already being linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Nicolas Jackson sources are open to working with Xabi Alonso
With a need for a replacement, Chelsea can avoid paying a significant transfer fee by bringing Jackson back into their plans.
Alonso is reportedly keen on Jackson’s versatility across the frontline, and it seems the new manager has had an impact on the forward’s stance on the club.

Simon Phillips has claimed on the SPTC podcast that the door is open for him to return, and the fact Alonso is now in charge is a real positive as far as he is concerned.
He said: “So with Jackson, they’ve certainly left it open for him to come back. I’ve heard from his sort of camp as well that they’re they’re they’re more than open to working under Alonso and staying at Chelsea. It was Enzo Maresca that they had the problem with rather than anyone at Chelsea.”
Jackson hit double digits for goals in all competitions for Bayern last season, although struggled to find regular opportunities behind Harry Kane.

Jackson looking to make his mark at the World Cup
Alonso and co will be keeping a close eye on the Chelsea players and transfer targets during the World Cup in North America.
Jackson will be representing Senegal in a tough group that also includes Malo Gusto’s France.
Preparation hasn’t been ideal for the forward, who was sent off in their final friendly before the tournament gets underway.
Despite this, he will not be suspended for any games of the tournament, meaning he is ready to make his mark straight away.
