Chelsea fans are surely going to love the small exchange between Roman Abramovich and Romelu Lukaku at the weekend.

Chelsea officials, players and staff all celebrated on the pitch after their 2-1 win on Saturday against Palmeiras in the Club World Cup final, including Blues owner Abramovich.

Abramovich, who watched from the stands the final in Abu Dhabi, has been spotted hugging and giving a warm embrace to Blues centre-forward Lukaku in the post-match celebrations. It certainly looks like a very friendly encounter between the pair.

Chelsea owner Abramovich got to see £97.5million investment Lukaku score in the weekend’s cup final, along with £71million match-winner Kai Havertz pop up with a goal in extra-time.

The Lukaku interview saga definitely looks buried now and there doesn’t appear to be any bad blood.

Abramovich was reportedly pleased at the time with how Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel dealt with the Lukaku interview controversy, dropping the 28-year-old striker for one game after he publicly shared his frustration with his position.

The Belgian forward has reached 10 goals in all competitions now this season after two more during the Club World Cup tournament, but he’s really going to be judged on what he can do during the business months of the campaign ahead.

Lukaku building Chelsea combinations

For certain, one of the biggest reasons Lukaku was so successful at ex-club Inter Milan was he had a striker partner up alongside him to work with.

It’s taking him some time to form that bond with Chelsea teammates due to playing in different systems, but there are glimpses of partnerships.

Interestingly, journalist Matt Law suggested last month Lukaku likes playing in attack with Havertz.

It’ll be intriguing to see if Tuchel uses them together more often in upcoming games, as both got on the scoresheet at the weekend after starting.
