Following Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital’s takeover of Chelsea, the club’s transfer policy has been heavily criticised by supporters.
Even Marc Cucurella has joined in, with the defender far from happy after being part of a Chelsea side that were thrashed 8-2 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16.
Since then, Cucurella has claimed that Chelsea need more experience, a sentiment that fans also share.

While Cucurella and Chelsea supporters clearly feel that a change in approach to the transfer market is needed, Boehly and Co seem to disagree.
Journalist Simon Phillips is a man who is well connected with people in and around Chelsea and has even had dialogue with the club’s owners.

He recently shared on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Boehly, Behdad Eghbali and the rest of the Chelsea board are reading what supporters are saying about their transfer strategy and listening to their complaints, but they are in complete disagreement with them.
It means that nothing is likely to change in the summer. So if the Stamford Bridge faithful were hoping to see more Thiago Silvas arrive in west London, they can probably forget about it.
More young players are likely to be on their way. In terms of the centre-back position, for example, Chelsea have been linked with Luka Vuskovic, who is still just 19 years old.
How Chelsea’s owners and sporting directors can prove supporters wrong
Understandably, Chelsea’s two main sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, have also come under fire.
Boehly and Eghbali may be the ones who own the club, but Stewart and Winstanley are running football operations.
They need to start signing young players who can make an immediate impact or inform their bosses that this current transfer strategy is not going to work.
If this Chelsea team can challenge for the Premier League title and do better in Europe, obviously fans are not going to have much to say. But until that happens, they are being proven right, in contrast to the club’s owners and sporting directors.
