When Willian could play against Chelsea as Blues legend completes Premier League return

Chelsea will cross paths with one of their legends later this season following Willian’s return to the Premier League.

Willian, who played for Chelsea from 2013–2020, spent two seasons at Fulham before joining Greek club Olympiacos last September.

However, the winger has made a swift exit from Olympiacos and has rejoined Chelsea’s west London rivals until the end of the campaign.

While Fulham have managed to strengthen their attack this winter with the arrival of the Brazilian, the Blues failed to do the same after missing out on the likes of Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Tottenham Hotspur’s new signing Mathys Tel. Chelsea were keen on Garnacho but watched him remain at Old Trafford.

Chelsea and Willian set for April clash

As things stand, Chelsea are set to take on Fulham and Willian on Saturday 19th April 2025.

That could change if the west London derby between the two sides gets picked up for TV coverage.

Chelsea will be looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to Marco Silva’s men at Stamford Bridge in December.

Cole Palmer got the Blues off to a good start after scoring in the 16th minute, but substitutes Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz inspired the visitors to a late comeback win.

Chelsea’s goalscorer that day continues to be the main man for the team. David Luiz recently hailed Palmer as a “world-class player”.

Willian has come back to haunt Chelsea in a Fulham shirt before

Willian is well into his 30s now, but Chelsea will be well aware that the former Brazil international can still hurt them.

Back in the 2022/23 season, Willian scored against his old side to help Fulham beat their rivals 2-1 at Craven Cottage.

It was a very different-looking Chelsea team compared to now, but defenders Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Cucurella both played that night and will have to be wary of Willian if they find themselves having to go up against him in April.

It was the same game where Joao Felix was infamously sent off after making his first debut for the Blues. He has since returned to the club, but Felix could leave Chelsea permanently after his loan spell at AC Milan.
