Chelsea have had a fascinating first half of the season. An impressive start put the Blues in the conversation for the title, before a recent dip in form led to people questioning their top-four chances. After an impressive win against Tottenham on Sunday, where will Chelsea finish in the Premier League?

Lampard has changed the culture at the club since his appointment. The team is full of young, English talent and fans have fallen in love with Chelsea all over again.

They are playing some wonderful football at times, and have exceeded expectations so far. Before the season started, many people wrote Lampard and Chelsea off. You can see why. A transfer ban and a manager who lacks top-level experience. It could have gone badly wrong.

But it hasn’t. Chelsea currently sit four points clear in fourth place going into Christmas and look good for a top-four finish. Questions had been asked about their ability in big games, but those questions have now been answered.

There is still a lot of football to be played. Chelsea are by no means certain of a top-four finish, and could also finish a place or two higher. They were unlucky to lose to Manchester City a few weeks ago and will see themselves as not far off last season’s title winners.

The defence is still an issue for the Blues, and January presents a new challenge for Lampard. If the signings are spot-on, Chelsea could really push on.

Although they could go one better, expect Lampard’s young side to finish the season in fourth place. Sunday’s win over Tottenham proved that Chelsea can still beat the big teams, and January allows the club to further strengthen what is already a good squad.

Finishing fourth would be an extremely big achievement and one that the club could certainly build on moving forward.
