Frank Leboeuf believes Chelsea should have signed Sofyan Amrabat instead of Moises Caicedo.
The Frenchman made the surprising comment when speaking to ESPN.
So, what did Frank Leboeuf say about Moises Caicedo and Sofyan Amrabat? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the 55-year-old thinks Chelsea missed out on a “bargain” in the Morocco international.
Speaking after Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, Leboeuf said: “I often talk about Chelsea trying to find experienced players in the middle of the park. Why didn’t they think about Sofyan Amrabat? He would have been the perfect player to pair with Enzo Fernandez.
“Yes, they got Moises Caicedo, but for over £100m! I saw Amrabat going to Manchester United on loan, he can then be bought for £30m. That would have been a bargain.
“He was amazing for Morocco at the last World Cup. He has proven his talent. Why don’t Chelsea think of these guys? He’s an experienced player. Why don’t they think of these players?”
Now, we feel that’s a little bit reactionary from the man who made 203 appearances for Chelsea.

After all, we haven’t even seen how Amrabat plays in the Premier League yet, so he simply cannot be compared to Caicedo.
In fact, it seems Chelsea did consider the Moroccan anyway – the Independent believe he was on the shortlist at Stamford Bridge in case a deal for Caicedo failed to materialise.
Moises Caicedo is not the problem at Chelsea – and Sofyan Amrabat is not the answer
Leboeuf clearly cares a lot about Chelsea, although his frustration after yet another poor result is being aimed at the wrong player.

Caicedo is one of the best in the business at what he does, and the main issue right now at Stamford Bridge is the lack of a prolific frontman who can grab goals out of nothing.
There is already enough pressure on the Ecuador international after his British record move to Chelsea, and comments like this from Leboeuf are not going to be helpful.
