Enzo Maresca guided Chelsea to a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.

That win, which was the result of a Levi Colwill tap-in, saw the Blues qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Chelsea‘s season would have gone down as a massive failure had they failed to secure a spot for Europe’s elite competition.

However, it looks like Maresca‘s job was always going to be safe, regardless of the outcome.

Chelsea believe in Enzo Maresca’s football

Last week, it was claimed that Maresca is attracting interest from other clubs, but Chelsea will not want to see him depart Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to BBC Sport, the 45-year-old’s position was secure before Chelsea had even kicked a ball at the City Ground, so the Blues had no plans to get rid of their manager.

The same outlet claims that Chelsea believe Maresca’s style of play will eventually pay off, hence why his job was never in danger.

The Chelsea boss will have the chance to convince those at the club even more when his side take on Real Betis in the Conference League final on Wednesday.

If they come out as victors, it will be Chelsea’s first trophy since 2022 and the first under Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

How Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali feel about Enzo Maresca

Chelsea fans have not always been happy with Maresca this season, but Boehly and Eghbali are the ones the Italian needs to keep onside.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge last summer, he has actually managed to do that. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea were already happy with Maresca and are even more delighted with him now following the club’s return to the Champions League.

All Maresca needs to do now is guide Chelsea to one more victory to put an even larger smile on the faces of Boehly and Eghbali.

If Chelsea fail in the Conference League, they will still have another shot at silverware through the Club World Cup.
