Chelsea have been linked with a long list of managers already since Liam Rosenior was sacked, but Joe Cole has put one name forward: Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner.
Liam Rosenior was sacked last Wednesday, and plenty of talk has been made over who will replace the former Hull and Strasbourg boss. For now, Calum McFarlane will remain in charge until the summer.
One of four interim managers considered, McFarlane secured a place in the FA Cup final against Man City on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Leeds. Now, he faces four more league games and a return to Wembley.
Would you have taken John Terry as the new Chelsea boss?🤔
Beyond that, Chelsea are looking for a new manager and according to reports, the club have opened talks with Andoni Iraola’s representatives. Marco Silva and Eddie Howe are also strong contenders to take over.
Joe Cole thinks Oliver Glasner is a ‘good shout’ for Chelsea
Meanwhile, Palace manager Glasner has already confirmed he will be leaving Selhurst Park in the summer. Having won the FA Cup and Community Shield last season, Glasner’s stock remains high at Palace.
That is despite a poor season riddled with injuries and the loss of Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze. Speaking on The Dressing Room podcast, Cole discussed who could be Chelsea’s next manager come next season.

Instead of picking who he’d want in charge, Cole discussed the realistic options. Because he believes the money has run out at Chelsea, he thinks Chelsea will hire a gaffer who can deal with situations like that.
He believes Palace boss Glasner makes sense: “Glasner is a good shout. Because he’s not in that bracket where he’s top, but he’d still look at the Chelsea job and go that’s a step up from Palace and Frankfurt.
“I think the money has run out, whatever PR or noise comes out, there won’t be hundreds of millions spent this summer. They have to find someone who can deal with that, so Glasner is a good shout.”
Frank Lampard could replace Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace
Glasner is set to leave Palace this summer and will be expecting a bigger club after a brilliant stint at Palace. Chelsea are said to be keen on hiring a manager who has recent Premier League experience.
Would you take any of these Premier League managers at Chelsea?
That means Glasner fits the bill for Chelsea. Whether Chelsea fans will be enthused with appointing Glasner remains to be seen, especially with some at Chelsea pushing the return of Frank Lampard.
Interestingly, Lampard – who has just guided Coventry City to the Championship title – could even replace Glasner at Palace. For now, Lampard looks set to remain at Coventry, and Iraola is the main target.
