While Marc Cucurella left Euro 2024 as a European champion, there were a number of Chelsea players who were left heartbroken as a result.

Cole Palmer did all that he could off the bench for England all tournament, however his goal in the final was not enough for the Three Lions.

The impact he had on the national team was picked up on by Rodri, who tipped him for big things after their two countries went to battle in the final.

A number of pundits had called for Palmer to feature from the start of some of the biggest games his country would ever play.

Another figure in the media who seems to think this is Richard Keys, who questioned in the ‘Richard Keys blog’ how Gareth Southgate was unable to find a place in the side for Palmer.

Keys questions how Palmer wasn’t starting for England

He said: “Palmer was good and Watkins‘ little cameo did him no harm at all. Why oh why didn’t Safegate find a starting place for Palmer? He’s the best player in the squad. I mean that – in the squad.”

Despite the heartbreak at Euro 2024, it will only be a few weeks off for Palmer before he joins back up with the Blues for pre-season.

He will be working under new manager Enzo Maresca, someone he has experience featuring under during his time as a youth player at Manchester City.

Palmer has record-breaking price rise in Fantasy Football

Any Chelsea fans who are keen to bring in the 22-year-old to their Fantasy Football teams will be aware that they he has endured a record-breaking rise in price from what he cost last season.

At this stage it remains to be see what position he will play in next season, with roles both in the middle as well as the right of attack seemingly under consideration.

While his impact was restricted on the international stage this summer, there is no chance of the same happening at Stamford Bridge next season.
