‘Wonderful’: Alan Shearer super impressed by what he’s just seen from £50m Chelsea player

Alan Shearer is super impressed by Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling after seeing his recent performance last week.

Raheem Sterling, 28, has started the new Premier League season with some eye-catching displays.

The English winger scored twice and assisted once last Friday during Chelsea’s 3-0 win at home to Luton Town, the first victory since Mauricio Pochettino took charge as head coach at Stamford Bridge.

Now, there’s a lot of excitement around what the Blues forward can do moving forward as he recaptures his best form.

Shearer, who picked Sterling in his Premier League Team of the Week, loved the Chelsea forward’s latest contribution.

“He looks back to the Sterling of 3-4 years ago. A wonderful display [against Luton],” Shearer told the Premier League’s official website.

Incidentally, Shearer also named Blues right-back Malo Gusto in the weekly XI for his two assists against Luton.

If you look at Sterling’s performances last season during his debut Chelsea year, he didn’t really justify the £50million transfer fee (Daily Mail) it cost to sign him from Manchester City.

However, we’re pretty confident he can still grow into serious value for money if he recaptures his form.

The Athletic reported this week that Sterling has already developed a close bond with Pochettino. It’s noticeable with the way he’s currently performing, too.

Unfortunately, there’s no point going overboard on this Sterling revival until a couple of months further down the line, something the player will be aware of himself. It definitely feels like he’s won back some of the fanbase who are now willing him to do well, though.
