Chelsea have a few injury problems going into their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.
Thiago Silva has been out with a groin issue and is now unlikely to start at Wembley, according to The Telegraph.
Silva was dropped for Chelsea‘s 3-1 win against Aston Villa in the FA Cup before he got injured, so the central defender being named in Mauricio Pochettino‘s first XI for the final was not a guarantee anyway.
In the Blues’ last fixture, a 1-1 draw with Manchester City, Levi Colwill started in central defence alongside Axel Disasi and was fantastic.
As per WhoScored, the 20-year-old made 10 clearances at the Etihad, more than any other player bar his centre-back partner (16) and Malo Gusto (10).

Thiago Silva unlikely to start against Liverpool
While Silva may be fit enough to make Chelsea’s matchday squad for the Carabao Cup final, it does not look like he is going to start.
Instead, Pochettino could go with Colwill again, with Liverpool legend Steve Nicol believing that the England international and Disasi should be the Blues’ central defensive partnership going forward.
Hopefully Silva is fit enough to make the bench in case anything happens to Colwill or Disasi during the game. The Brazilian is still a solid defender after all. For Gary Neville, Silva has proven that he is a “world-class” player.
With Chelsea not doing well in the Premier League, Sunday’s game will be huge for everyone, with the club having a chance to get their hands on a cup.
Disasi is really looking forward to it after Colwill and Ben Chilwell spoke to him about playing at Wembley.
Whoever starts at the back for Chelsea this weekend, hopefully they can help the team to get revenge on Liverpool after the club’s 2022 Carabao Cup and FA Cup final defeats against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
