Enzo Maresca will already be deep in preparation for Chelsea’s first Premier League game in just under two weeks.

The Blues will take on Bournemouth away from home, with them looking to get their second domestic win of the season.

Maresca has had a number of injury issues to deal with as a result of the recent international break.

Malo Gusto withdrew from representing his country, with him still unlikely to feature this weekend after hobbling off of their last game at Crystal Palace.

With Reece James still not fit to start either, the manager all of a sudden has a conundrum to solve as far as the right-back position goes.

Moises Caicedo not seen in Chelsea training

He may have been considering solving it by starting Moises Caicedo in an unusual role in defence, however one he has played in the past during his time at Brighton.

There are now worries about that taking place though. Pictures on Chelsea’s 5th Stand app did not show the club’s record signing in action in training just two days before the game.

This is likely down to the fact that he was representing Ecuador halfway around the world in their World Cup qualifiers.

Caicedo plays attacking role for Ecuador

Caicedo featured in a more attacking role for his nation, although that position is unlikely one to see him in at Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo has previously been described as ‘world-class’ after an FA Cup match against Leeds last season, and his place in the starting side is pretty crucial no matter the opponent.

Another player who was not seen is Enzo Fernandez, with him also in South America for his international fixtures.

The hopes the two will be fit and firing before Saturday is only added to by the injury to Romeo Lavia, with him not likely to be back with the first team until next week due to his issue stemming from the opening games of the campaign.
