‘World class, unit’: Some Chelsea fans wowed by £100k-a-week star’s display last night

Antonio Rudiger left Chelsea fans on social media feeling very satisfied after he shone for Germany yesterday evening.

Rudiger started in Die Mannschaft’s 7-1 demolition of Latvia, a fine preparation for their upcoming European Championship adventure.

Two more Blues featured on the night, with Timo Werner scoring and Kai Havertz assisting.

Chelsea fans saved a special mention for Rudiger after they realised Germany only conceded following his substitution in the second half.

The recent rise of Rudiger has been outstanding.

It seems almost unfathomable that he was on the verge of leaving Chelsea at one stage, especially considering how crucial he became to Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) centre-back quickly re-established himself as one of the Premier League’s best in his position.

With a Champions League winners medal under his belt, Rudiger can now turn his attentions to obtaining Euros glory.

Although Latvia are not the most intimidating of opposition, Germany still showed they have the means and the method to cause anybody trouble.

Joachim Lowe has a nice blend of well-travelled campaigners and fresh-faced youngsters that look like a real proposition heading into the tournament.

Havertz certainly falls into the youthful category; Werner somewhere in-between; Rudiger is embedded in the experienced camp.
