Demba Ba has shared that Manchester United were urged to sign Enzo Fernandez well before he moved to Chelsea.
Enzo Fernandez, 22, has spent a year at Stamford Bridge after joining the Blues in the January window of 2023.
There’s been an interesting claim that explains the Argentine midfielder was a potential target at Man United.

Apparently, Ralf Rangnick put forward Fernandez’s name to Man United when he was interim boss at Old Trafford.
Demba Ba, who knows Rangnick, has shared that the central midfielder was a potential target back at the start of 2022 when he was still playing in Argentina with River Plate.
“I speak from time to time with Ralf (Rangnick) still. He is not a guy who reaches out, he keeps you in his heart from afar. Amazing guy,” Ba told iNews.
“People talk about him being a failure at Manchester United but that’s not so. He was set up to fail, really.
“If you had the list in your head that he gave to Manchester United to sign when he was there you’d be amazed. This was in January 2022.
“Josko Gvardiol was on it. Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland were on it, that’s for sure. Enzo Fernandez, now at Chelsea, was there.”
Manchester United told to sign Enzo Fernandez
Fernandez’s rise in recent times led to Chelsea splashing the cash to sign him from Benfica, so it sounds like United missed out on a potential bargainn.
His individual form has taken a small dip this season, but let’s remember that he’s still so young.
We’re confident that there’s a lot more to come from him in Chelsea colours, especially when there’s the right balance in the centre of the park.
The South America star is a top quality midfielder that does offer plenty both offensively and defensively.
